About School Broadcasting Network

SBN continues to mentor several young people around Australia, from the age of 8 to young adults, in radio broadcasting, interviewing and production skills, which, beyond the practical skills gained, enhances their overall life skills and boosts confidence and selfesteem. The diversity of the media cadets themselves spanning socioeconomic, neurodiverse, and cultural backgrounds ensures that SBN amplifies voices not often heard. For most, it s their first real leadership experience in media. SBN continued to maintain production of our weekly 'for youth by youth' radio programs for national & international distribution and continues to own and operate the specialty online children's radio station Funky Kids Radio. SBN produced the 4th REGeneration International Youth Film Festival, delivering a curation of over 100 short educational and inspiring films from around the world, many produced by young people for young people. The mission of this annual film festival is to provide a rare platform for the work of young creatives to be seen and appreciated alongside multiawardwinning cinematographers and animators from around the world. RIYFF focuses on short films that address contemporary issues through innovating storytelling. The core aim of this film festival is to encourage our young generation to engage with important social, environmental, and cultural issues through positive, throughprovoking and solutionfocused content, which promotes a sense of resilience and empowerment.
