About Sayo Kumbasi House Limited
We presented lectures and facilitated mental health and drug and alcohol activities to our target beneficiaries being African migrant and refugee youth. Our activities incorporated walking in the Auburn botanical gardens, indoor bowling, dance as a way to address wellbeing, participating in multifaith mini football day and Sudanse harmony day. We have engaged with over 100 youth to improve their mental health understanding and outcomes. We have also engaged the parents for them to appreciate the benefits of educating their children about mental health issues and drug and alcohol prevention. We have provided strategies to prevent poor mental health and have enabled the youth who have participated to feel empowered to talk about mental health issues. The programs have reduced social isolation, increased knowledge and access to relevant support and services. This has had a overwhelming positive impact on the wellbeing of the African migrant and refugee community in Western Sydney and is executing with our mission of healthy, vibrant & proud young people of African refugee and migrant backgrounds thriving in Australia.
