As an environmental charity and food retailer operating in the Northern Rivers region of NSW our focus over the 2324 financial year continued to be supporting local organic farmers through provision of funding and market access through our stores. We believe small to mediumscale organic and regenerative agriculture benefits the environment by promoting soil health and biodiversity and contributes to our regional food security, culture and economy. In the reporting period gained funding to support a further 8 farmers throughout the 2425 financial year. Our small donations pool funded various groups doing great work for our environment and community including: Burringbar Community Preschool (paddock to plate program) Periwinkle Preschool (Indigenous Education Access Program) Byron Steiner Spring Fair Mullumbimby Community Gardens (Grow Fest) Riding for the Disabled Friends of Refugees Byron Shire The Returning (Indigenous culture camps and postnatal meal provision) Save Wallum Mullum Public School (Be You Program for mental health) Organic Landcare Inc (chemicalfree landcare) Mother the Mountain (Book launch) House You (community event) Fletcher St (homelessness support) Our team contributions (from those who donate 1% of their posttax weekly wages) totalled $8.6K: $4K was donated to Save Wallum; $2.6K to Grow the Growers; and $2K to Organic Landcare Ltd.
