About Sail & Adventure Limited

The company's major asset the three masted topsail schooner Alma Doepel has been in a restoration phase since January 2009 and as at 30 June 2024 $4.7 million has been spent on the project. Originally launched in 1903 the vessel is the oldest surviving Australian wooden sailing ship and the Company's ultimate mission is to recommission the ship's to its former role of the 1980/90's as a sail training ship for the youth of Victoria. A major milestone achieved in 2024 was the restepping of the three lower masts. The Company does not employ any staff and all work undertaken is done by volunteers who have spent thousands of man hours not only in rebuilding the ship but also in respect of fundraising activities and administration.
