To promote the prevention or the control of diseases in human beings residing in rural South Australia, the RDWA: provides services that improve the viability, sustainability and equitable distribution of primary health care services in rural and remote communities of South Australia; supports recruitment and retention of rural primary health care professionals and provides services that support the personal and professional lives of rural primary health care professionals and their families; provides services that increase the capacity and capability of the primary health care workforce to provide health services to rural and remote communities; contributes to healthrelated policy development and initiatives for rural and remote communities; maintains links with relevant stakeholders including government bodies and nongovernment organisations, health providers and rural and remote communities; provides and promotes research, education and training relevant to the primary health care workforce working in rural and remote communities; and provides such other workforce services to rural and remote communities as appropriate from time to time to further promote the prevention of disease in human beings residing in those areas.
