About Royal Academy of Dance
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is an industry leading dance education and training organisation. Our core business supports the education of dance teachers to deliver a globally recognised ballet syllabus and provide their students the chance to take part in examinations which promote achievement and advancement in the artform of ballet. Furthermore, we provide opportunities for all people of all ages and experience levels to enjoy dance as a health and wellbeing activity through our Silver Swans programme promoting ballet for over 55's. In addition, the Academy has a Faculty of Education department which promotes and facilitates the training and development of dance educators as well as providing guidance and opportunities for continuing professional development. We offer teacher training programmes to preservice teachers and professional dancers seeking second career teaching qualifications, these programmes support and promote excellence in dance teaching and drive career transition in the arts. We also offer adjunct teacher training programmes to students in students in vocational dance courses and undergraduate programmes in dance, further contributing to the quality of dance teachers who enter the profession. Our commitment to providing dance and learning opportunities for everyone from 3 to 93 years has led to the development of exciting and innovative projects, complementing our core provision of examinations, teacher training/professional development and membership services.
