ROCKHAMPTON EISTEDDFOD ASSOCIATION INC. Established in January 1923, the Rockhampton Eisteddfod Association s overall mission is to contribute to the growth and development of the cultural and social capital of the community by providing opportunities through which the performing arts talents of young people are encouraged. The Association aims to achieve its mission by: Organising all required elements (external adjudicators, their travel and accommodation; venues; publicity; ticketing, recruitment of volunteers, etc) and staging an annual Rockhampton Eisteddfod, typically for five weeks in April/May of each year Encouraging entries from competitors across all performing arts forms: vocal, speech and drama, instrumental music, piano, and dance Encouraging competitors from community groups, public and private schools as well as individuals, to develop confidence and poise by performing before a wider audience While some adult and young adult entries are catered for, the Association s principal focus is on the future generation, encouraging entries from children under 18 years of age.
