Roads to Rehab - Nepal

We are entering our ninth year of working with our project partner organisation, Medical Rehabilitation Organisation (MeRO) whose work we fund. Together we again facilitated access to health and medical care and advanced health outcomes for people in Nepal who cannot afford medical care due to poverty. Our funding helped cover the cost of medical and surgical intervention, nursing care, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for people who experienced life changing injury or illness, and were referred to their Shelter. This year the lives of 57 people (38 adults and 19 children) were changed by our work. As always, most patients oftenlong roads to rehabilitation have been challenging. Proceeds from our fundraising efforts paid the wages MeRO s four nurses and physiotherapist which enabled aroundtheclock nursing care and regular physiotherapy for all patient at the Shelter. Our funding helped pay for essential medications, medical equipment and supplies for all patients. It covered the first US$200 of medical care for 25 patients and it paid for as much of patients medical bills as we could afford. The combination of our funding and MeRO s work enabled their lives to be changed forever.
