Rebuild Independence Group Inc

Our objects and purposes are to advance and promote the maritime heritage of American River, Kangaroo Island inter alia through current activities: building, restoring and maintaining boats and other maritime architecture, including significantly the building of a replica of the 1803 schooner Independence, the first vessel built in South Australia; providing training and education to volunteers in the craft of wooden boat building; and operating an interpretive centre for the maritime history of American River and its region and presenting informal lectures and tours.
