The primary purpose of Project Hiu Foundation Ltd is to provide direct relief of poverty, sickness, suffering & distress by giving freely to those who are in need of such support. Project Hiu aims to assist coastal communities made vulnerable through climate change, overfishing and exploitation by providing viable and sustainable alternative income streams. We believe in lasting, generational change that strengthens families as well as the oceans that surround the islands of East Lombok. Through Project Hiu Foundation, we raise money to help build infrastructure, support childhood education and raise local and international awareness of the value of the community s natural capital. In 2024: * We increased our fleet of repurposed shark fishing boats for use in tourism from 7 boats to 12boats in 2024. This prevented 36 fishing expeditions, employing 60 fisherman and saved over 3000 sharks. *We increased the number of Day Trips offered, with 839 guests joining our trips through the year. In 2025 we aim to increase our trips to two per day. *We filtered 64,000litres of rainwater from our installed rainwater tanks, to provide clean drinking water to all school students and the community, reducing plastic pollution within the community, and increasing school attendance through reduction of health issues from consumption of contaminated water. *We deployed 10 shark tags to learn more about local shark behavior crucial information to support future protection of this species within Indonesian waters *We continue to support two University students on full scholarship, to create a future for shark fisherman children, that does not involve reliance on fishing. * We coauthored three scientific papers on contributed to * installation of rainwater tanks for provision of clean water for school students and staff. These projects supported our mission to support access to education for the next generation of fisherman children to provide opportunities other than fishing for income. We commenced full university scholarships for two students children of employed shark fisherman furthering education so provide alternative options for future employment for the children of shark fisherman. We started 2024 with 5 boats, now we have a fleet of 12 We prevented 36 shark fishing expeditions over a 12 month span, saving over 2000 sharks. We had 839 guests join a day trip this year... We coauthored 3 scientific papers (two with groundbreaking discoveries relating to Great White sharks) We filtered 64,000 litres of roof collected rainwater which was distributed at the school
