About People With Disabilities (Wa) Inc
Individual Advocacy: We provide personalized support to individuals with disabilities, helping them navigate various challenges such as accessing the NDIS, securing housing, obtaining employment, and addressing issues related to transport, guardianship, and more. Systemic Advocacy: We work on a broader scale to influence policies and practices that impact people with disabilities. This includes advocating for changes in legislation, improving service delivery, and promoting greater awareness and understanding of disability issues. Economic Participation Initiative: We have partnered with local businesses to develop employment checklists tailored to the needs of young people with disabilities. This initiative ensures that workplaces are inclusive and accessible, providing clear guidelines for employers and employees alike. CoDesign Toolkit: We have developed a codesign toolkit that empowers people with disabilities to actively participate in the design and implementation of workplace policies and practices. This toolkit has been instrumental in fostering a more inclusive and collaborative work environment. Experienced Staff: Our team includes staff members with extensive experience in employment inclusivity. Many of our staff have won awards for workplace culture and wellbeing, highlighting our commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace. Partnerships for Emerging Industries: We have established partnerships to provide pathways into new and emerging industries, such as Quantum technology. These partnerships open up exciting opportunities for people with disabilities to enter cuttingedge fields and contribute their unique perspectives and skills. Inclusive Governance: Our board is made up entirely of people with disabilities, and our membership includes over 1,000 individuals with disabilities. This inclusive governance structure ensures that our strategies and initiatives are guided by the voices and experiences of those we serve. Empowerment Programs: We deliver programs and activities that empower people with disabilities, helping them build confidence, develop skills, and achieve their goals. PWdWA is committed to creating a society where people with disabilities have equal opportunities and are valued for their contributions. Our work is guided by the principles of the National Disability Strategy, and we continuously strive to improve the lives of people with disabilities through advocacy, support, and empowerment.
