Northern Rivers Animal Services Inc.

1. We took in and provided a high level of care for 132 cats and 145 dogs during this reporting period. These companion animals were either abandoned, lost, no longer wanted, unable to be cared for due to cost of living (and other) issues, unable to be housed in rental accommodation or surrendered to a local Council Pound. 2. We provided a safe environment for these animals either at our Animal Shelter or in foster homes and provided food and veterinary care as needed until we found a suitable permanent home for them. 3. We continued our program to help those experiencing financial hardship to assist with the desexing of their animals. 4. We lifted our local profile through engaging with residential care facilities, providing interaction with dogs in our care. 5. We improved our animal shelter facilities with the tiling of the cat cottage outdoor area, the installation of solar panels and the installation of all weather patio coverings and fencing in the dog exercise yards. 6. We supported our local community through engaging with and hosting the TAFE Animals Studies Department; conducting weekly 'animal enrichment group reading sessions' for children at risk; engaging with the Cabbage Tree Island Community Group; continuing a strong working relationship and spirit of cooperation with local Council Pounds.
