Description of how your charity s programs helped achieve your purpose: The Foundation aims to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We have achieved this by conducting research and running programs, which support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to maintain their distinct cultural values and identity, while also providing opportunities to participate fully in the economic, social and cultural life of Australia. Our work also contributes to and improves the social, emotional, mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Examples of discrete activities have been in the prevention of trachoma in remote Aboriginal communities in central Australia; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment; the protection of cultural authority and intellectual property of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art; and, by advising the philanthropy community on how to address social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in their programmes.
