Museum of Australian Photography Foundation

MAPh Foundation plays a key role in the Museum of Australian Photography's philanthropic and fundraising activities. Through the stewardship of both new and existing donors, the Foundation helps sustain and grow MAPh s community of supporters. Donor programs like The Luminaries and events like Behind the Lens are unique ways for people to get involved and stay connected to the museum. In addition, MAPh Foundation manage The William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize. Established in 2006 to promote excellence in photography, Bowness Photography Prize and it s exhibition provide an opportunity to view and to engage with some of the best contemporary Australian photography each year. This prize has become one of the most important annual surveys of photography in Australia and continues to provide one of the largest winning cash pools for any art prize in the country. The Luminaries are a circle of 10 donors who each contribute $10,000+ annually. The Luminaries are MGA s closest and most valued supporters. As philanthropic leaders, their love of arts and culture makes a big difference and enables us to champion photography and inspire audiences to engage in the medium in all its diversity. The Luminaries support is vital and every donated dollar directly funds MAPh's exhibitions, programming and artists.
