Principal Activities Recognising that the gardens will be established on the Traditional Lands of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people, our plan for the Mossman Botanic Garden is to: Establish and maintain a community owned worldclass botanical institution and horticultural collection, which will provide new jobs and skill sets for the region and be a cornerstone for the emerging green economy in North Queensland Provide a facility to host a range of festivals, conferences, concerts and community events in the Douglas Shire Increase the whole of destination touring experience in Far North Queensland to increase domestic and ultimately international visitor numbers to the region Build an attraction of international standard which would indirectly contribute to the economic growth and development of the Far North Queensland tourism industry
