As a Museum and Historical Society we aim to preserve and promote the history of Moruya and the local district. The Society owns and operates the Moruya Museum which houses a significant collection of books, furniture, wartime memorabilia, farming, gold mining and other artefacts showcasing the past lives of the people and businesses of this district. The Society's premises also include an extensive Genealogy & History Research Library where members and visitors can undertake family research or general historical research. Society volunteers can assist visitors with research inquiries including access to widely used heritage databases. The Library houses an extensive collection of documentary material and photographs related to the history of the district. These include microfilm resords of Moruya newspapers dating back to the mid 19th century. The Society also produces a number of publications each year as well as a Member's quarterly Journal and has an active online presence through a website, blog, facebook and instagram.
