Midlands Conservation Partnership

The Midlands Conservation Partnership (MCP) is managed as a perpetual fund. Over the reporting period, the earnings from the fund were used to support conservation agreements with landholders in the Tasmanian midlands to protect and manage areas of high conservation value on private land. The earnings were also used to cover associated organizational support and administration costs. The MCP currently supports 17 conservation agreements with 14 landholders, covering 7,360 hectares of high priority native grasslands and associated grassy woodlands in the Tasmanian midlands. With MCP's coordination and monitoring of agreements, the majority of landholders have successfully continued to deliver sound conservation outcomes across their agreement areas. Managing native grasslands and woodlands for conservation within a productive farming landscape requires constant attention from land managers and their staff, and with ongoing financial support and advice from the MCP they have been able to maintain that focus over the reporting period.
