We deliver a highquality annual literary festival that is fundamental to Melbourne s designation as a UNESCO City of Literature. We ignite conversations that Melbourne tunes in to, addressing relevant and essential subjects and stories. Our programming values creative insight, intellectually rigorous dialogue and constructive debate. We platform writers and thinkers who explore complex ideas with open hearts and minds. Our programming for students and young people ignites their curiosity and opens them to the power of storytelling and writing. We are committed to reflecting the local and global diversity of the world we live in. The selfdetermined programming of our First Nations Curators is an essential component of MWF. The voices and stories of First Nations writers, culturally and linguistically diverse writers, writers with disability, and LGBTQIA+ writers are elevated across the festival program. Our accessibility practices ensure our program engages with a wide variety of abilities, experiences, cultures and ages. We are accountable and responsible for our collective cultural and environmental futures, and committed to making a strong contribution towards finding solutions and supporting generations to come. We prioritise environmentally friendly operating practices, and programming that addresses the most timely and urgent issues facing our planet, including climate change. We pursue a financially sustainable festival model to ensure MWF will continue to remain part of Melbourne s public life for many years.
