We supported aspiring young journalists from culturally and racially marginalised backgrounds nationwide through various internship programs, creating a series of seminars for them to attend and placing them on paid internships in multiple media outlets, giving them an opportunity and pathway into the industry. We continued our sponsorship of an annual reportage award at the prestigious Walkleys, working with the national organisation to better represent CARM (Culturally and Racially Marginalised) communities in our national conversation. We created a new resource to support journalists report in a more ethical manner when reporting on racerelated matters. We are in the process of turning this resource into training sessions to ensure CARM journalists are venturing into culturally safe workplaces when they start working. We organised a series of networking events across Australia to empower CARM journalists in advancing or launching their careers. These events provided a platform for attendees to connect with potential mentors, explore suitable job opportunities, secure seniorlevel positions, or simply find inspiration. By addressing the structural barriers that CARM journalists frequently encounter in the media industry, these events contribute to enhancing representation of Australia s multicultural population in our media landscape.
