MATES in Construction WA is a health promotion charity with the specific purpose of suicide prevention and raising awareness about the high rate of suicide in the building and construction industry. This is accomplished by MATES' community development health & wellbeing program that empowers workers & their families to recognise when someone is struggling, what to do about it, and be able to connect them to help. The MATES program includes education (GAT, Connector, ASIST) which is derived from an internationally recognised suicide prevention program; as well as a 24/7 helpline & weekday case management support. All of MATES WA's services are free to workers & their families.
