We focused on highimpact campaigns to support a thriving natural environment, with an emphasis on climate action, water conservation, and biodiversity protection. Notably, our Koalas Not Coal initiative engaged the community in advocating against habitat destruction caused by coal mining. Our efforts to halt new coal developments, including our Land Court case against Whitehaven Coal s proposed Winchester South mine, underscored our commitment to addressing climate change at its source and protecting critical ecosystems. Our outreach expanded significantly, utilising our website, social media platforms, and email newsletters to inform the community about urgent environmental issues. Through these efforts, we raised awareness and encouraged community involvement, fostering a wellinformed and engaged public. We strengthened our connection with local residents by hosting stalls at key community events, such as the Mackay Riverside Market and the Food Forest Festival. These engagements provided platforms to discuss our campaigns and environmental concerns directly with the community. To support sustainable growth, we focused on enhancing our internal structure and volunteer management. Training sessions for staff and volunteers were conducted throughout the year, allowing us to expand our local network and strengthen our organisational capabilities. This focus on internal development ensures MCG remains adaptable, resilient, and prepared to lead in the conservation space well into the future.
