MLC provides free legal information, advice, and referrals to residents in our region, and targeted task and casework assistance for disadvantaged clients. Our region includes the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly, Wingecarribee, GoulburnMalwaree, Yass Valley, Upper Lachlan Shire, Balranald, Bland, Carrathool, Coolamon, CootamundraGundagai, Cowra, Griffith, Hay, Hilltops, Junee, Leeton, Narrandera, Temora, Snowy Valleys (partial coverage), Weddin & Wentworth. In addition to legal services, we deliver community legal education, to increase awareness of legal issues, and use our coalface experience to help inform constructive legal and policy reforms. We target our services to the most vulnerable people in our community. We provide the Children s Court Assistance Scheme (CCAS) at Campbelltown Children s Court. This service provides support to young people facing court in criminal matters and apprehended violence orders. We provide an Aboriginal Legal Access Program (ALAP). This program supports MLC s efforts to make our services available to our local Aboriginal community and participating in community events such as NAIDOC week. MLC auspices the South West Sydney Tenant s Advice and Advocacy Service (SWSTAAS) and the Macarthur Women s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Service (MWDVCAS). Our collaboration and colocation with these services allows us to deliver holistic service solutions to clients with multifaceted needs (e.g. a woman escaping domestic violence can get ADVO court assistance and DV casework, legal advice/casework as well as assistance with any tenancy and housing issues she may have in this sense we offer clients a convenient onestopshop). MLC also auspices the Camden Wollondilly DV Committee. This Committee brings together representatives from the community and from services who are involved in providing services to victims and perpetrators of domestic and family violence with the object of: Sharing information; and Raising community awareness of DV issues.
