About Logistics & Defence Skills Council Inc.
The LDSC investigated the workforce development needs of the Transport and Defence Industries sectors in Western Australia and how it could better meet its future needs. This included identifying those groups underrepresented in the sector, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, people with special needs, women and older persons, and working with relevant agencies, both government and NFP, to build their capacity to enter the workforce. The LDSC also worked with a variety of agencies to identify those issues impacting on the State, and how better to align with State priorities. The LDSC also carried out a variety of activities which supported the following: providing leadership in driving change in industry training arrangements; identified and developed innovative approaches to industry skill development; provided advice to Govt on industry training reform requirements; provided advice on infrastructure requirements for industry; and developed and implemented strategies to promote industry careers. This has included working with national and state bodies to develop more relevant qualifications for entry into industry for school students and career changers in the logistics and defence sectors.
