Limbs 4 Life is the peak body for people with limb loss in Australia. The organisations empowers amputees with knowledge and support because no one should have to go through limbs loss alone. Limbs 4 Life provides access to a national Peer Support Program for individuals and their families, prior to or following amputation. There is provision of support families of children who are born with limb deficiencies. The Limbs 4 Life Peer Support Program provides new amputees with the opportunity to meet with a trained amputee peer who has experienced the very personal journey of adapting to limb loss, regaining independence, mobility and functionality. Peers understand the journey moving forward and provide hope and knowledge of what is possible. Limbs 4 Life provide a large range of free resources covering topics and areas of interest for people new to amputation and those who have lived with amputation for a long period of time. Healthbased literacy is made available to all primary stakeholders, healthcare providers and people working in community related sectors who support the social, physical and wellbeing outcomes of members of this community. Limbs 4 Life works to prevent social isolation by building national community capacity and connections via online platforms, face to face educational events, social events and activities, community gatherings, along with our national conference Amped UP. We recognise that collaborating and partnering with amputees using a codesign approach helps to qualityassure existing activities as well as initiate new ones. Such endeavours allow us to acquire knowledge, conduct collaborative research and identify methods of effecting change to improve amputee s psychosocial and economic outcomes. Limbs 4 Life advocates on behalf of people with limb loss and their families to ensure that standards of care are met and that amputees have access to healthcare and community services in a timely, efficient and effective manner. In addition, we respond to a range of government submissions and inquires which have led to a range of significant systemic policy changes. As the national peak body for amputees, we remain focused and steadfast in our resolve to empower, educate and support our community, and are demonstrative of our ongoing drive to create positive change now and into the future.
