Leschenault Biosecurity Group's aims are to broaden our engagement with diverse community members and stakeholders to encourage, promote, and support ongoing, proactive declared pest awareness and management across all land tenures, and reduce the severity and occurrence of priority declared pests throughout the LBG Operational Area. To achieve this, we run several declared pest species specific programs our operations pillars relating to plant and animal pests impacting our agricultural and perurban communities. These programs are run on private tenure with participation of the land manager and aim to extend across multiple connecting landholdings, to provide a reduction or buffer in pest impacts to participating properties as well as broader economic, ecological, psychological and amenity improvements associated with reduced pest incursions. Education, awareness raising, supporting and subsidizing access to restricted chemicals, trapping knowledge, engaging sub contractors specializing in lethal controls and also non lethal controls such as exclusion fencing, habitat management, discouraging pests and integrated best practice and emerging technologies are all part of our cause. We couldn't do this without the hard work and financial support of our rate paying community members and technical and administrative guidance from DPIRD.
