About John Lane Aerospace Medicine Trust
JLAMT supports the prevention and reduction of disease among the general public who travel by air, and the communities in which they live, through advancement of knowledge among health professionals engaged in the field. These care providers are thereby able to provide advice to government, industry and individuals on how to avoid developing disease or spreading disease as a result of flying, and how to avoid making existing illnesses worse through flying. They can work more broadly with communities to avoid the spread of diseases by air travellers. They can also work with aviation workers to prevent development of occupational illnesses, and prevent the consequences of their illnesses impacting community safety and health. This is achieved by facilitating the conduct and dissemination of latest research findings and delivery of related education by local and internationally renowned experts. This dissemination of information has proved invaluable to informing and supporting public health initiatives, including during the early years of the COVID19 pandemic, and on an ongoing basis.
