International PEN Sydney Centre

PEN Sydney advocates for freedom of expression both in Australia and globally. We host events featuring commissioned authors who discuss relevant issues and publish articles on these topics in two magazines annually. The organisation actively advocates for authors imprisoned for their writing, appealing to the Australian government and to officials from the imprisoned authors' home countries. PEN Sydney also celebrates cultural diversity through literary events, including the annual PEN Lecture at the Sydney Writers' Festival (SWF) and the Day of the Imprisoned Writer on November 15, as well as community events that promote local writers.
