Her Heart is Australia s Peak Body and the only organisation dedicated exclusively to women s heart health. Its mission is to raise awareness, promote prevention, and reduce the death toll of heart disease among Australian women. Every hour, Australia loses one woman to heart disease one in three female deaths making it the leading cause of death among women, surpassing all cancers combined. However, over 80% of heart disease is preventable through awareness, understanding risk factors, and adopting healthier lifestyles. Since its launch, Her Heart has expanded its national and global reach, now present in 195 countries. In just six months, Her Heart connected with women in 55 countries, rapidly growing to reach over 81,000 women in Australia, 28,000 in the US, 5,500 in India and the UK, and thousands more across Hong Kong, Canada, New Zealand, and Germany. Her Heart achieves its mission through four key pillars: Awareness: Raising national and global awareness of heart disease in women through storytelling, campaigns, digital outreach, and advocacy. Education: Providing women and health professionals with evidencebased resources, membership programs, and fact sheets, and hosting the Her Heart Conference. Research: Driving and supporting research initiatives, including the First National Report Card on Cardiovascular Disease in Women, and partnerships with over 20 research organisations, including the National Cardiac Registry and leading universities. Advocacy: Championing national action on women s heart health by responding to 20+ government reviews and reports, including the National Strategy on Gender Equality, National Women s Health Strategy, and the MBS review of Heart Health Checks. How We Achieve This: 1. Providing evidencebased, uptodate information through resources such as the Her Heart Checklist, fact sheets, and digital tools. 2. Innovating with worldfirst digital tools, including the First Women s Online Risk Assessment and the Find a Female Cardiologist Directory, now expanding to Find a Heart Health Specialist to include male cardiologists specialising in women s heart health. 3. Amplifying women s voices through awareness programs such as Share Your Story and the Women IN Program, engaging women in prevention and lifestyle change initiatives. 4. Delivering tailored programs and partnerships, including collaborative projects like Hitnet, which provides culturally tailored heart health content for First Nations women. 5. Driving national and global research efforts, including reports on women and cholesterol, and collaborations with over 20 research institutions to translate findings into practice. 6. Advocating for policy change, ensuring women s heart health remains a national priority by contributing to major health and gender equity strategies.
