1. to study the history of Harrietville and surrounding districts. Maintained the collection and enabled members of the community to view, discuss, examine, and expand the collection. 2. through its museum, to acquire, conserve, catalogue, display and dispose of artefacts, documents, and printed and electronic material of all kinds or relevance to the history of Harrietville and surrounding districts. Continue to acquire catalogue, restore and maintain items in the collection. 3. to commemorate and provide instruction regarding significant historical sites and events in Harrietville and surrounding districts by the erection of historical markers and information panels. Applied for a grant and began a project to update information panels 4. to apply its assets and income solely in furtherance of the abovementioned objects and no portion shall be distributed directly or indirectly to the members of the society except as bona fide compensation for services rendered or expenses incurred on behalf of the Society. All finds go to the operation of the museum and the development of the collection. All expenses of members are recorded. All reimbursement of expenses has a two factor approval. 5. to develop longterm sustainability by encouraging community engagement and participation through events and activities in the grounds of the Museum and environs of Harrietville. Markets and other activities in the grounds and local parks/recreation areas increase community engagement. Outreach to local schools and provision of educational programs are provided.
