Happy Paws Happy Hearts focus is to help participants on their journey of change from social isolation to social inclusion and wellbeing. Building from this, a sense of greater independence means improved quality of life and pathways to work, often culminating in volunteering, education and/or employment. In a unique flip on traditional animal therapy, we deliver group programs to socially isolated Australians in local rescue shelters and wildlife sanctuaries around Australia. Our courses in animal care, handling, and training provide skills development, social connection and vocational support. For hearts, outcomes include optimism about the future, improved wellbeing, broader social networks and increased work readiness. For paws, we provide more hours of socialisation, training, and improved adoption prospects.
