The Griffith Shed for Men Incorporated operated 3 days per week providing a safe place for members to gather together for social and recreational pursuits. Members work side by side and shoulder to shoulder finding pleasure in company and finding friendships. Friendships are fostered during the morning when work stops and all members gather together for smoko. This is the highlight of the day for some members and others who just come along for the morning for smoko. The atmosphere creates a safe working space where members may share stories or their troubles providing a safe space for mental health and general health discussion. Knowing you are not alone is definitely one of the keys to maintaining mental health. The shed also provides a place for health workers to visit and share information with those who may not have actively sought advice.
