Gary Lang NT Dance Company

The Company continued to provide employment pathways and professional development opportunities for indigenous and nonindigenous creatives, including our Artistic Director, through collaborations with Northumbria University UK, Miami Dede College Florida, The Australian Ballet and MIKU Performing Arts from Yirrkala, East Arnhem Land. These initiatives involved residencies, creative development periods, International travel, Arts market attendance and the production of Gary Lang's latest Australian masterpiece The Other Side of Me at the Darwin Festival. A second performance, Two Islands, which explored First Nations Australian and Afro Cuban music and dance, was also performed in Miami. Gary Lang's choreographic style features Aboriginal contemporary dance, combining classical music and traditional dance in a unique way to tell his First nations stories. NT Dance Company is the vision of Larrakia man Gary Lang, a vibrant choreographer, teacher and performer, well known and respected both in the Northern Territory dance community, Nationally and Internationally.
