Foundation for Contemporary Music & Culture

The FCMC mission statement is: The FCMC benefits, supports and nurtures both established and emerging artists and their works, with an emphasis on artists who create works of divergent aesthetics or who are marginalised or disadvantaged. Our members are comprised of arts practitioners and supporters who have a documented history of facilitating the creation and promotion of current art forms on both national and community levels. At present, we are running several program streams that facilitate these aims. These are: 1. We maintain an archive of our member's artworks to ensure that they are not lost. This is essentially a backup service where we ensure members' artworks are stored securely and protected. 2. We provide an audio and video production facility for members to use to enable them to record and release their artworks to a wider audience. 3. We bring in notable artists in the experimental sphere to mentor local artists and members, and also to give members an opportunity to tour along and learn from these established experimental artists. 4. We write grant applications for members to try to secure funding for performances, festivals and events. We were not successful this year in achieving any funding. 5. We provide a marketing and advertising service for emerging artists so that their work can reach a wider audience.
