Flinders Ranges Ediacara Foundation

We are assisting the State Government of South Australia to protect and conserve the Nilpena Ediacara fossil site in perpetuity, not just for South Australia or Australia but for everyone. During the year we continued our campaign to raise money for the muchneeded stabilisation of the fossil beds and support of educational resources. Fourteen of the 40 excavated beds have attracted funding for critical stabilisation works. In July 2024 we provided a scholarship for 10 teachers to visit the fossil site to assist them with including the Ediacara Fossils in the curriculum. This was a huge success and we hope to repeat in 2025. Further works were undertaken by the Department of Environment and Water (DEW) towards preserving and maintaining the buildings on the site and in particular restoration works on the historic Nilpena Woolshed. We continue to provide support with these projects. Work started at the end of the financial year on an educational video series. The Fossil Rock series premiered in December 2024. We have been able to support this fantastic project.
