About First Peoples Disability Network (Australia) Limited

FPDN provided representation internationally and nationally through Systemic Advocacy, codesign, and Strategic Policy advice to inform and strengthen disability frameworks, strategies, and policy priorities informed by evidencebased data in partnership with government and nongovernment agencies to improve outcomes and uphold human rights of First Nations people with disability, their families and communities across all life indicators. FPDN continued their commitment to First Nations People with Disability, their families, and communities to Closing the Gap reform, working in partnership with governments and National Aboriginal Peak Organisations as a member of the National Coalition of Aboriginal Peaks organisations leading the implementation of the Closing the Gap National Disability Strengthening Plan and the continued development and implementation of FPDN s National Disability Footprint, strengthening our capacity to support and communicate with all First Nations Communities and partners. FPDN is connecting and supporting our community through our advocacy work. Nationally, FPDN provide culturally appropriate individual advocacy support, human rights training, accessible multimedia communications targeted to First Peoples with Disability, their families and communities living in regional, rural and remote areas. We work with First Nations communities to know and advocate their rights and entitlements to remove barriers for First Nations people with disability to ensure their full participation in community. We facilitate the building of networks and alliances to support First Nations People with disability. FPDN worked extensively across the Nation to address the gap in culturally appropriate services and supports and strengthen the sector through expanding sectoral capacity by developing a national training strategy for the First Nations disability community to access culturally safe, inclusive and rightsinformed services, accessible information and resources and critical communications to support First Nations people with disabilities.
