DrinkWise is an evidencebased social change organisation dedicated to transforming the Australian drinking culture to one that is safer and healthier. We do this through national education campaigns, partnerships with government, academia, community organisations and industry, along with the development of practical strategies and resources to promote the responsible use of alcohol. Established in 2005 with funding from the alcohol industry and the Federal Government, DrinkWise is an independent, notforprofit organisation. DrinkWise takes an approach that promotes the benefits of moderation, respect, responsibility and awareness of potential harms and support services available for those choosing to drink alcohol. We do, however, advocate abstinence for those underage, pregnant or having trouble managing their consumption. Through a realistic and relatable approach DrinkWise has created innovative campaigns that resonate with Australians and provide a meaningful contribution to cultural change. The DrinkWise Board has eight Community Directors who are remunerated for their expertise and involvement. Our six Industry Nominee Directors volunteer their time and contribution.
