The CEFA Board took the decision at the end of 2024 to change from calendar year reporting to financial year reporting. The sixth monthly in these financials 1 Jan 2024 to 30 Jun 2024 reflect the period CEFA is rethinking its strategic planning including financial planning. During this period, all financial services were covered by Kerry Jones Strategic Management Services Pty Limited ( KJSMS ) a range of secretariat services to the Trust including management services. Within the provisions of the signed Deed of Consultancy between both parties, each month the Trust has to meet regular monthly commitments such as directors insurance, staff salaries (that are not covered in a particular grant), communications and IT support, website s maintenance and hosting fees, rent, separate website support providers for the Trust s website s and eNewsletter distribution. Non grant annual programs also need to be funded such as the Governor General s prize. Whilst the Trust receives grants from the Federal Government for specific civics education programs and associated activities, all money from grants is allocated across the work provided for that project. The Trust also receives donations from Australian individuals and corporates who wish to support its objectives. In recent years there has been a shortfall for the Trust to complete the annual program as well as for the monthly expenses needed to fund the secretariat. These annual funding shortfalls for both completion of grant projects, and for meeting the regular monthly secretarial expenses for the Trust, have been provided by KJSMS on an annual basis. KJSMS has generously agreed for the Trust not to reimburse these costs in the year ending 31 December 2023 and for the period of in the 6 months to 30 June 2024. A letter of debt forgiveness for the period 1 Jan 2024 to 30 Jun 2024 writing of $238,545 of net liabilities has been signed by Mrs Jones.
