In 2024, Compass Refugees Australia made significant strides in fulfilling our mission to support refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable communities across Australia. We provided critical support to two male asylum seekers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, guiding them through the intake process, securing Bridging Visas, and connecting them with essential services. This included Medicare approval, English language courses, accommodation, legal orientation, and career pathways. Today, both individuals are employed and successfully integrating into Australian society, with ongoing followup to ensure their continued progress. Our food relief programmes also reached those most in need. We provided immediate support to newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers in Darwin, offering nutritious meals to ease their transition. In addition, we extended our efforts to First Nations communities, delivering food and water to homeless families and individuals. In collaboration with Cancer Australia, we facilitated health awareness sessions for both men and women within the refugee and asylum seeker communities. These included bowel cancer awareness and breast cancer screenings, ensuring culturally sensitive services were provided to those at risk. These initiatives have had a profound impact on the health and wellbeing of the individuals we serve. Despite challenges in securing additional grants, we are incredibly grateful for the $5,000 received in 2024. This funding was efficiently used, directly contributing to the success of our initiatives. We remain optimistic about the future and are committed to expanding our services as more funds become available. Compass Refugees Australia continues to empower individuals, ensuring their integration and longterm success. Our commitment to inclusive, communitydriven support is unwavering as we strive to build a brighter, more equitable future for all.
