Community Industry Group is the peak body for not for profit, community sector organisations in Southern NSW. We are a charity established to advance social and public welfare and relieve poverty by representing and supporting not for profit service providers and the disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals, families and communities they serve. We are committed to social justice. In 2023/2024 we worked to improve outcomes for the region's disadvantaged communities though our work to support and resource local not for profit community organisations and through our work in communicating with all levels of government. We sourced and delivered a range of professional development opportunities for community sector staff, produced a fortnightly e newsletter, and developed and dispersed Fact sheets on topical issues to keep community services staff up to date on current issues and leading practice. We provided direct support to people with mental illness who are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness by providing practical support such as forensic cleaning, access to furniture and appliances, and other household equipment. Community Industry Group also facilitated local agencies to work together by facilitating crosssectoral planning sessions, holding consultations and discussion groups (both in person and via Teleconference) and developing regional approaches to key issues. We have supported individual organisations by conducting strategic planning sessions, building capacity in management and committees, and providing governance support.
