From 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024, the Healing African Communities Through Respectful Communication project has made notable progress toward achieving its planned deliverables and meeting its objectives, even though we have enough financial funding. All proposed components of the project were completed successfully, continuing to deliver impactful community and individual programs that address the attitudes, behaviours, and practices that justify or downplay violence against women and children. The dedicated team of Social Workers, student on work placement, volunteers at Community Abundance (CA) played a crucial role in driving these initiatives, ensuring ongoing education, referrals, and community engagement. Moving forward, the extension of this program will build on these successes to further expand its impact within the community. Special Family Violent Primary Prevention. Based on the insights and outcomes from the initial two years, the project focused on the following objectives: The project successfully educated and informed African community members about common behaviours and attitudes that may lead to antisocial behaviour. This was achieved through targeted community sessions that emphasized cultural understanding and behavioural change. By further fostering community and selfawareness, the project effectively helped participants recognize and interrupt negative behavioural patterns that contribute to violence and antisocial conduct. Through events and communitydriven social awareness programs, the project motivated individuals to selfrefer and encouraged family members to support referrals. This proactive approach has resulted in a positive increase in community engagement. The project developed robust referral pathways for people of African backgrounds to access professional support, working closely with local service providers to ensure seamless access to assistance for those in need. The project collaborated effectively with community leaders, families, and young people to raise awareness about family violence and prevent it. This collaborative approach has strengthened the community's capacity to address and respond to family violence issues.
