Cloverdale Community Centre is a community owned and governed notforprofit located in Corio, Geelong. Cloverdale strives to be an integral part of the local community, working within the principles of community development and social justice, providing a welcoming environment which is inclusive and accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. We actively work to limit the impacts of social isolation and loneliness by provided a physical space for community members to meet, socialise and connect in two locations; Purnell Rd Corio and our Victoria St North Geelong shed space. We are a Neighbourhood House and registered Learn Local organisation. We actively encouraging community members to develop their skills and knowledge and overcome barriers to healthy participation in community including but not limited to education and employment. Our programs and activities provide opportunities for individual and community expression, social and cultural interaction and personal achievement. We provide a space where people can develop networks and supportive relationships and become active citizens in the community. Evidence: We provided support to remove barriers to participation in community through community wellbeing and referral supports to improve social isolation and community welfare. We facilitated adult education programs that built capacity for vulnerable community members to participate in education and employment. We provided free or low cost, inclusive community activities that provided an outlet for community to socialise both formally and informally, and improve general health and wellbeing. We developed community enterprises that address issues including food security, modern slavery and human trafficking.
