About Catholic Health Australia Limited
As the peak body for Australia's largest nongovernment grouping of health and aged care providers, Catholic Health Australia continued its advocacy work to ensure Australians benefit from aged care and private health insurance reforms. CHA continued to champion reforms aligned with the healing ministry of Jesus and the work of Catholic ministries around the country. This included policy work and advocacy on the new Aged Care Act, which acts on key recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care around the need to provide support and dignity to older Australians. We continued to speak up for more palliative care funding and access to services, particularly in rural and regional locations, and worked with our not for profit hospitals to argue for better financial outcomes from insurers to meet the true cost of healthcare. True to our mission, CHA held a webinar series throughout the year focusing on quality end of life care and providing health on the margins by closing the gap in indigenous health, and supporting LGBTQI+ people in Catholic aged are services. Other advocacy work included promoting World Day of the Sick, the Australian National Prayer Breakfast and the inaugural Budget Week Dialogue for Catholic aged care members.
