Camden Historical Society Incorporated

The Society continued to promote and preserve the area's history. During the year, around 7,000 people visited our museum. The 2024 financial year saw the installation of a permanent exhibition featuring the work of Professor Graeme Clark AC, the inventor of the Bionic/Cochlear ear implant. Professor Clark was born in Camden in 1935 and grew up in the Town. Another highlight was publishing a book about the history of Camden Chinese Market Gardeners. The book is a brief history of the Chinese market gardeners who first arrived in the Camden district during the late nineteenth century. It provides insight into the story of the Camden Chinese market gardeners, which is not widely known but deserves to be remembered. The Chinese market gardeners made a positive contribution to the Camden area that will be more wellknown and widely told due to the publication of the book.
