Bribie Island Community Arts Society Incorporated

The Bribie Arts Centre serves as a cornerstone of the Banksia Beach community, fostering artistic expression, lifelong learning, and social connection for over 750 members and countless others. We provide a physical venue where many members of the local community can come to pursue their artistic endeavours (currently 753 members). We also provide spaces for outside community groups eg, meditation & yoga groups, U3A classes, to run their activities. Our Arts Centre Precinct, which is a popular destination in our local community as well, where the local Woodcrafters, Gem Club and Potters hold a collaborative Open Studio Day once a month. We also have a Let s Talk Art Mentorship program, this initiative provides opportunities for participants to connect with artists, with encouragement and networking the focus, at no cost to attendees. Excursions to galleries and other experiences are often undertaken. Creative Conversations' is new initiative in 2024. The Bribie Arts Centre hosts this monthly informal gathering with local authors and interested listeners, sharing insights into the writing and publishing processes. We also host many books launches for local authors. We run workshops for the community to enable them to learn new skills. Many workshops are free and educational, such as children's workshops, artist open days, and our total membership of now well over 700 members, with 310 members participating in weekly art and craft groups at a very minimal cost. Other local school partnerships, such as the Moreton Youth Concert Ensembles. Performing at opening nights of notable exhibitions. Banksia Beach Performing Arts Department, choir performances at various functions, and Bribie Island State High School, with opportunities for students to extend their hospitality skills at opening night events. We give donations to other charitable organisations, for example, The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology and Drought Aid, as well as an annual fundraising partnership with the Pink Dragons, a local breast cancer survivor paddling club. Any profit made is put back into our organisation and is used for providing items and facilities that are of benefit to our members and the local community. Our Centre has well over 130 volunteers. These volunteers take customer enquiries, deal with sales, clean and maintain the Centre, administer a lot of the office requirements, display stock, curate exhibitions, run the café under the guidance of the chef, maintain the gardens. A percentage of volunteers fulfil Centrelink requirements by volunteering at our Centre.
