Birpai LALC Overview and Main Aims The Birpai Local Aboriginal Land Council (Birpai LALC) serves as a vital hub for social, cultural, and environmental initiatives supporting the local Aboriginal community. Its main aims are to protect cultural heritage, provide affordable housing, and foster community wellbeing through programs, infrastructure, and advocacy. In 2024, the Birpai LALC completed key upgrades, including a carpark and expanded facilities, which saw increased usage for events and programs. Community programs include women s and men s groups, youth activities like the Burraydjarr Youth Group, and the launch of a specific Learning Space to address educational gaps. The Aboriginal Cultural Fishing plan and environmental projects at Christmas Bells Plains demonstrate a commitment to cultural preservation and land care. Birpai LALC is guided by the Community Land and Business Plan (CLBP) 20242029, which prioritises land claims, housing, financial transparency, and community care. Birpai LALC remains a cornerstone for empowering the Birpai people and preserving their cultural identity.
