About Bakhtar Community Organisation

This year, we proudly delivered nine impactful, funded initiatives, directly benefiting over 108,500 individuals and families in just one year. These projects have made a profound difference across various communities, creating lasting change and providing essential services. 1. Harms of Gambling Project: Empowered over 70 participants by raising awareness and providing support for individuals affected by gambling. 2. First Aid Training and Awareness Campaign: Delivered lifesaving first aid training to 65 individuals, alongside a live broadcast information session that reached an impressive 4,000 people. 3. Gender Equality through Sport: Promoted gender equality, equity, and respect through sport, empowering individuals and fostering inclusivity within communities. 4. COVID19 Booster Shot Updates: Provided essential updates about COVID19 booster shots for individuals aged 50 and above. Our information sessions, shared across social media platforms, reached over 35,000 individuals across six sessions. Additionally, Bakhtar distributed over 1,000 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kits, valued at over $4,000, to help individuals access critical resources. 5. Food Vouchers Partnership: Through our collaboration with the Food Bank, we distributed 40 food vouchers monthly to 480 families. With additional support from In Care and Food Bank, we extended 80 more vouchers to 80 families, benefiting over 2,800 individuals, based on an average of 5 people per family. 6. Rotary Club Partnership for Household Supplies: Since 2021, Bakhtar, with the Rotary Club of North Balwyn, has delivered over 170 truckloads (1700 cubic meters) of household supplies, including 40 trucks in 2024 alone. This support reaches approximately 25 families weekly, impacting over 6,250 individuals annually. This does not include the 30 trailer deliveries made in 2024. 7. Breast, Cervix, and Bowel Cancer Awareness: Our healthfocused initiative reached more than 61,000 individuals through online and inperson sessions, enhancing awareness and prevention efforts in collaboration with the Department of Health. 8. Women s Focus Group Workshops: Our weekly workshops, which focus on empowerment and support, have engaged over 100 participants, with an average of 10 individuals per session. 9. Community Cohesion Project: Running through to mid2025, this ongoing project will engage up to 1,000 women in discussions around racism, trauma recovery, and building resilience. 10. Dari Language Classes for Children: Held weekly in Hallam, these classes have educated 15 young students, strengthening their language skills and cultural connections. 11. Girls Racing Bike Team: Aiming to reach 10,000 individuals, this initiative promotes health and prevention within the CALD community through cycling and active engagement. 12. Student Placements and Work Experience: Offering valuable work experience opportunities, Bakhtar initiated this to foster professional development and community engagement.
