About Australian Suicide Prevention Foundation
The principal objective of the Australian Suicide Prevention Foundation is the prevention of suicide by providing avenues of immediate assistance to those with thoughts of suicide. A major strategy is to destigmatise suicide and mental health by raising community awareness of the issue of suicide and the ready availability of assistance. The Foundation has undertaken promotion and research into our most recent innovation, a new app named Prevent a Suicide: What to Say. The app is a family/communitydriven suicide prevention initiative activating the direct involvement of close contacts of sufferers, bringing emotionally powerful forces to bear in a life and death situation, at no financial or employee cost to the patient, family or health service. Our existing services remain unchanged and are fully available to the Australian public: www.InToughTimesText.org.au, www.youthsuicide.com, www.depression.com.au, www.suicideprevention.com.au, www.aftersuicide.com.au. During the year, we have: reviewed the Foundation's vision, mission and role increased social media presence continued our alliance with Macquarie University.
