Invictus Australia harnesses the power of sport to enhance wellbeing, foster connections, and build resilience within Australia s defence community. In 2024, we expanded our reach and impact, engaging 6,890 veterans and their families through 378 activities facilitated by our seven regional Veteran Engagement Managers. These events, delivered in collaboration with community partners, created safe, inclusive spaces for veterans and their families to get active and connect. A key highlight of the year was the launch of Community Defence Sport Expos in South Australia, Western Australia, and New South Wales. These events brought together the defence community, families, sporting partners, and ex service organisations to encourage participation and strengthen local networks through sport. Our competitive opportunities in 2024 further exemplified the transformative power of sport. In June, 30 competitors joined the 2024 DoD Warrior Games in Orlando, Florida, an international event showcasing the role of sport in recovery for wounded servicemen and women. In August, 22 members of the defence community participated in the World Lifesaving Championships on the Gold Coast, using sport to inspire camaraderie, resilience, and wellbeing. November marked the debut of Team Veteran at the Pan Pacific Masters Games (PPMG), also on the Gold Coast, where 64 competitors joined thousands from 30 countries to embrace competition and connection. Strategic partnerships formed in 2024 with organisations like the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), Defence Kidz, ESSA, Phoenix Australia, and Volunteering Australia allowed us to expand our capabilities, aligning to strategic business objectives, to better support the defence community. Collaborations with community groups such as Veteran Gaming Australia, the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard, Obstacle Australia, and others further expanded the variety of sporting opportunities available to the defence community. Throughout 2024, Invictus Australia remained committed to creating pathways for veterans and their families to experience the physical, mental, and social benefits of sport. By strengthening connections and fostering resilience, we ve continued to fulfill our mission of enhancing the wellbeing of defence communities through sport.
