Australian Independent Schools Fund Limited

The principal activities of the Fund during the financial year were to receive, allocate and distribute funds to independent schools, other philanthropic organisations, and to other service providers, working to improve literacy and numeracy of children and young people who may be detrimentally impacted by poverty, unemployment, drought, sickness or other distress. The principal short term objectives of the Fund are to: provide services directed at addressing the special needs of disadvantaged students and the schools they attend; develop programs for disadvantaged students and providing consultants to the schools they attend to develop a plan to bring those students' learning up to the required level; develop programs for teachers on how to assist, treat and educate disadvantaged students; provide consultants to work with schools to develop programs that assist parents understand their child's learning difficulties and undertake additional homebased tuition to bring those students' learning up to the required level; provide grants to disadvantaged students and schools experiencing distress brought about by natural disasters; and anything ancillary to the objectives referred to in the clauses above.
