Australian Glycoscience Society Limited

The primary objective of the Australian Glycoscience Society is to promote the development and recognition of glycosciences within Australia. This is achieved through the following key strategies: 1. Elevating the Visibility of Glycosciences: The society aims to enhance the recognition and status of glycosciences both within Australia and on a global scale. 2. Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaboration: By serving as a conduit for networking between individuals and various associations, both domestically and internationally, the society seeks to diversify and fortify the glycoscience community within Australia. 3. Promoting Outreach and Knowledge Exchange: The society is committed to advancing the field of glycosciences by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge and fostering collaborations across all scientific disciplines that intersect with the study of sugars. 4. Nurturing Educational Development: A cornerstone of the society's mission is to cultivate the skills and talents of emerging glycoscientists, thereby contributing to the future advancement of this specialized field. In addition this year, the Australian Glycoscience Society (AGS) has actively promoted international collaboration and participation in the glycoscience community. In 2024, AGS sponsored one member to attend the 7th Canadian Glycomics Symposium (GlycoNet) and sponsored a session at the Lorne Proteomics meeting in Victoria. In 2023, AGS sent two members to the Gordon Glycobiology Conference to promote AGS, and approximately ten members to both the Glyco26 meeting in Taiwan and the Society for Glycobiology (SfG) conference in Hawaii, where AGS also sponsored a session. AGS continues to foster global engagement through initiatives such as a joint webinar with the European Glycoscience Community, scheduled for April 2024.
